Michael Bruno began serving as University of 撸sir视频ʻi at 撸sir视频 provost in April 2019. Prior to his appointment, he was the 撸sir视频 撸sir视频 vice chancellor for research.

Before joining 撸sir视频, Bruno was the dean of the School of Engineering and Science, and professor of ocean engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey. He was also director of the Center for Maritime Security, a Department of 撸sir视频land Security National Center of Excellence. Bruno is a visiting professor in mechanical engineering at University College London.

Bruno’s research and teaching interests include ocean observation systems, climate change and community resilience. He is the author of more than 100 publications, including the book, The Urban Ocean.

He has served on advisory committees and boards, including the Marine Board of the National Academies; the Ocean Research Advisory Panel; and the Naval Research Advisory Committee. A Fulbright Scholar, Bruno is also a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Bruno holds a BS in civil engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, a MS in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a PhD in civil and ocean engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography/Applied Ocean Science & Engineering.
